For any copywriter or PR professional, writer’s block can be a real strain. Continually finding the inspiration to write can become a bit of a struggle, so how can you become a more productive writer?

The early bird catches the worm! By starting your day by writing, first thing in the morning, you’ll find the words come more naturally before you've become distracted by what the rest of the day will bring.

Pace yourself. Writers should ideally aim to write for 30 minutes at a time, even with larger jobs, with breaks in between. That means no Facebook, texting, ANYTHING for 30 minutes, other than writing. You’ll find you have more focus.

Get some inspiration! If you’re struggling with the next sentence, take a deep breath and give yourself a break. Take a walk, visit libraries and galleries, take time to smell the roses. Writers need to be inspired, so get yourself out there!

Clear your desk. It’s easy to let things slip and end up with a desk that’s more of a filing cabinet than a surface to write at; keep it clean and tidy, with minimal distractions.

Get reading. Try to allocate time to reading when you can. Not only are you continually growing your own internal content library, it’s a good way to relax!
