Can you believe it? We’re not sure where 2015 has disappeared to, but we’re already on the brink of one of the busiest times of the year, Christmas. Yes, it still seems a while away yet, but creative and marketing teams need to start planning right now to maximise this time of year. Take a look at our checklist below.

Make sure everyone is prepared. Each team member should have a clear idea of their role in the Christmas campaign, and be ready to shine. And it’s not just the marketing team; Christmas is a big time for sales for most businesses, so each department needs to work closely together and play their part.

Think what happened last year. It’s time to take a peek at the archives! Now is the time to look at the data from last year and years before to see what worked, and sadly, what didn’t work.

Email is key. What with the huge rise in online shopping (and anything digital these days) a hard hitting, catchy email campaign is vital to attract Christmas customers. Make it seasonal, succinct and symbolic.

It’s all about image. You can find yourself fighting for display space at Christmas, and it’s the early bird that catches the worm. Plan your display campaigns now, and don’t forget special sales days like Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

It’s time to make friends. By partnering with other brands and businesses, you can increase your customer reach in an instant. And after all, unity is what Christmas is all about, isn’t it?

Of course, what with Halloween and Fireworks night to go, there’s still plenty to look forward to before December, but marketers – be aware!
