Make your LinkedIn Profile stand out

LinkedIn is becoming a must have tool for professionals. Whether you’re in full swing in your job search, or perhaps just interested to hear about new opportunities available on the market, it’s vital your profile stands out and is accessible to recruiters and hiring managers alike. So how can you make sure your LinkedIn profile is making sure you’re one step ahead from the competition?

A profile picture is non-negotiable. Make sure it’s a clear, professional image, and you should choose a picture of yourself alone, rather than with other people. A picture on your LinkedIn profile encourages engagement and conversation, and putting a face to a name is a great start for hiring managers.

Make sure your summary uses as many keywords as possible. LinkedIn has a search facility, and you’ll get the best exposure by ensuring your professional summary relates to your industry.

Make contact as easy as possible. If you’re actively job searching, and you’ve also placed your CV on various job boards, why not add your contact information to LinkedIn too? It’ll make it easier for recruiters and hiring managers to get in touch.

Leave no section incomplete. Make sure every job you’ve had in your career is on your profile – and crucially, make sure the dates tally with your CV! By giving as much information as possible, hiring managers and recruiters will be quicker to make contact.

It’s time to engage! LinkedIn is a social network, and it’s a fantastic platform for professionals sharing ideas. By joining groups and growing your network you’re more likely to get noticed.
