It’s a crowded market out there, and getting your voice heard amongst the noise is vital. You should make every effort to develop good media relations with journalists – here’s how.

Pay attention to deadlines! Making sure you meet any deadlines for print will make you a popular PR pro amongst journalists, who’ll know they can rely on you to deliver the goods on time.

Make your documents clear. Use clear paragraphs and spacing to make it as easy as possible for journalists to read your story, and make sure file names are clearly identifiable. Anything that makes a journalist’s job easier is a win win!

Use Google alerts. Rather than chasing for an update, Google Alerts will inform you when your story has gone live.

Give credit where it’s due. Once the story is live, credit the journalist too – Any promotion you make will be remembered in the future!

By making a journalist’s job as easy as possible you’re guaranteed to get more coverage and enjoy more positive media relations all round!
