It’s a competitive creative market out there, and with new and exciting channels available designers are finding ever more creative ways to demonstrate their skills. However, there are some simple ways you can make sure your portfolio hits the spot.

What’s it all about?! There are countless examples of portfolios that demonstrate stunning work, but many of these lack information about the designer behind the beauty, what they are available for and what they can do. Add some context to your portfolio and make it clear what you’re offering.

Make your skill set clear. Some clients perhaps won’t understand exactly what skills are required for their needs; make sure your portfolio makes it clear what your skill sets are and what you’re capable of.

Keep it personal. Why not add a picture of yourself, showing the designer behind the portfolio? Adding your experience, much like a CV, also ads a personal touch.

Make it relevant. Don’t fill your portfolio with everything you’ve ever worked on; choose which design pieces you are most proud of to demonstrate to potential employers.
