Websites have ruled the roost for a while now, and with each year they become ever more sophisticated and innovative. With so much information out there about good practise, what are the most basic do’s and don’ts of building websites?

  • Make sure you communicate. Websites offer a two way conversation and visitors will have comments and more importantly questions. Make yourself accessible via your website and ensure al queries are followed up.
  • Understand your brand. Before starting on the design of your website, ensure you know all there is to know about your brand. The brand should always influence the design.
  • Ensure you’re consistent. Set the rules of your site in place and make sure everyone sticks to the rules – leave no detail unchecked!

  • Forget to tidy up. Once your site design is complete ensure everything is stored correctly and carefully. This might seem unimportant, but if something goes wrong quick access to these files is a must.
  • Lose your team. When designing a website it’s likely you’ll be working with a variety of professionals – and that’s the key, stay professional, communicate effectively with the team and ensure everyone is working towards a common goal.
  • Forget the business goals. When designing a website it’s easy to be immersed in the user journey and purpose – it’s vital that you remember what the brand wants to achieve too.
